The Formulation
Targeted at the root.
ClascoteroneX is built around clascoterone — an ingredient designed to act locally on the scalp, right where hair follicles live.

The problem, in plain language
Why hair thins in the first place
The most common form of hair thinning — androgenetic alopecia — is driven largely by androgens such as DHT. In genetically sensitive follicles, DHT binds to androgen receptors and, over time, the follicle shrinks (miniaturisation). Hair grows back thinner, shorter and lighter, until some follicles stop producing visible hair.
Step 1
Healthy follicle
Thick, long strand.
Step 2
DHT binds to receptor
The follicle starts to shrink.
Step 3
Miniaturised follicle
Thin, short strand.
How clascoterone works
Blocking the signal, not the hormone
Clascoterone is an androgen-receptor inhibitor. Instead of lowering hormone levels throughout the body, it competes with DHT at the receptor in the skin — so the signal that drives follicle shrinkage is reduced locally.
After it does its job in the skin, clascoterone is broken down into an inactive compound (cortexolone). This is why it is described as acting locally, with limited systemic exposure.
Clascoterone occupies the androgen receptor so DHT can’t bind as easily.
Local by design
Oral anti-androgens act across the whole body. ClascoteroneX is applied only where it is needed: the scalp.
What the research says
A clinically studied ingredient
Established in dermatology
Clascoterone has been used in dermatology since 2020. Acne is also driven by androgens in the skin, the same signal this routine targets.
Large hair growth studies
In 2025, two large studies (SCALP 1 & SCALP 2) of a 5% clascoterone solution — 1,758 participants — reported significant improvement in target-area hair count versus placebo.
Long-term safety follow-up
12-month follow-up data published in 2026 reported a safety profile comparable to placebo.
Those trials studied a specific 5% solution. They are not studies of ClascoteroneX itself. Clascoterone is not yet FDA-approved for hair loss.
